Catalina Island

If you are looking for a romantic getaway this Valentine’s Day, Catalina Island is the place for you! It is a small island off the coast of California that can be reached by boat or helicopter from Los Angeles. On its north side lies the town of Two Harbors. On its south side lies the city of Avalon, which is the islands main tourist destination.

Arriving in Catalina feels like you’ve been transported to your very own tropical getaway! Surrounded by crystal clear blue water filled with boats and yachts, you won’t believe you are still in the U.S.


Avalon is a small city with many great places to stay. Everything is within walking distance, so it’s easy to get around.


If you are a foodie like us, you will love all the yummy food available here! Here are a few of our recommendations.

Breakfast: Original Jack’s Country Kitchen is a great breakfast spot. There can be a line but it is definitely worth the wait.

Lunch: Descanso Beach Club is a restaurant and bar with amazing music. You can enjoy a great meal with tasty drinks right on the beach.


Dinner: Bluewater Grill is known as one of the best restaurants in Catalina. It is located right above the water and it has an incredible view you will enjoy with your dinner.

Bars: Marlins Bar is the oldest bar in Avalon filled with great music and a lot of fun. El Galleon is a beachfront bar with delicious cocktails, cool atmosphere, and karaoke.

You must try Big Olaf’s of Catalina ice cream shop. It is amazing!!!


If you are looking for adventure, try renting a golf cart and exploring the entire island. Catalina is filled with many activities to suit any style!

Things to do: Casino, museums, golfing, tours (jeep, helicopter), water activities (snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, parasailing, zip lining), local shopping and so much more!
